News from good friends Clyde & Co of Cabinet Decision 9 of 2015 which increases official fees for patents, designs, copyright and trade mark transactions. The April 2015 MENA Legal update is not yet on the Clyde & Co website.
The increases in fees are significant. Official fees for trade mark searches, applications, publication, registration and renewal will double. Official fees for a copyright application increase 10 times. Official fees for a patent application increase by 2.5 times.

- for trade mark applications from AED500 (US$140) to AED1,000 (US$280)
- for trade mark publications from AED500 (US$140) to AED1,000 (US$280)
- for trade mark registration from AED5,000 (US$1,360) to AED10,000 (US$2,720)
- for trade mark renewal from AED5,000 (US$1,360) to AED10,000 (US$2,720)
- for patent filing by a business from AED790 (US$220) to AED2,000 (US$560)
- for a copyright recordal by a business from AED30 (US$8) to AED300 (US$85)
